The newspaper title was "'Supermoon' on display tonight". Mandy and I went out to look, but it was too cloudy. Bob went out in the middle of the night when the clouds had cleared and got some pictures..The moon is at its closest point to Earth (its perigee) in 17 years. From the newspaper, "What's unique about this weekend is it's going to happen around the time of the full moon and...the moon is going to be aligned with the sun...which can lead to the strongest tides on Earth's oceans..."
I just love this green lens artifact...
which gives a second small green moon around the first!
