Sunday, 8-28-11 - Lightning Strikes

Lightning
We have been having lots of lightning storms, but very little rain.  Then my car is covered with this dusty film that came from the storm, and the dogs have nervous breakdowns all night, which affects all of our sleep.  Here is a picture Bob was able to capture.

yikes! I'm so behind!!

I think after Mandy and I took the natural light photography class, I must have felt extremely burnt out with photography.  I knew I was behind in my blog, but I had no idea HOW FAR behind, until finally I thought I would try to catch up today!  It's too far to catch up in one day....so I'm going to try to start currently, and work my way backwards, forcing them to post earlier.  So have patience!

Sat., 8-27-11-Babysitting Heroes

Mandy & Ross look cute for their date with friends in Ogden....

Hudson and Gr-Ma ran to get pizza...but Gr-Ma has a quick stop at Wal-Mart.  As we pull in Hudson says, "I need a haircut."  Oh, so we got him one!  I'm not sure he enjoys the process, though.  Part way through, I said, "Mommy and daddy are going to be so surprised."  The girl stopped cutting, and sharply said, "His parents don't know?!"  I told her it was okay.  Whew.  Then Hudson got a sticker for being so good.  As I paid, I heard her question, "You want a flower sticker?"  When we were out of the store, Hudson gave it to me and said,
"Gr-Ma, I got this for you!"  What a sweetie!  At the pizza place, he said he needed to carry my purse because it was so heavy for me.  It was bigger than him.  After he struggled almost to the door, he asked if I could help a little.   My purse is super heavy...I suspect he's seen Bob carry it for me.
He is such a little gentleman, though.

Dawson loves to sing.  His favorite song appears to be just E-I-E-I-O, which he sings over, and over, and over, and over...you get the idea.  While we babysat, he would climb up in the nook, sing, and watch for us to clap or cheer, then come running when the Rio movie we were watching sounded scary...Then back to the nook for more love and adoration of his talents.  He also sings Boom-de-ah-dah, and the Star Wars theme, which I think he learned from Hudson!
We had a very fun night!

Sunday, August 21 - a Hat for Entertainment...

It's a mistake to give dark oreos for a treat!  Mandy cuddled under blanket to escape air conditioning, and Hudson engrossed in I-Pad.  Dawson is left to entertain the family, and he does it wonderfully!

Sun., 8/14/11-Beautiful Farmlands, Cutler Dam, Relaxing with Dawson

Dawson puzzled by my bracelet and shaker eggs...

Traveled to Cutler Dam....near a town called Beaver Dam...in Box Elder County.  It was HOT and Dusty...and once we got there, we had to walk about a 1/2 mile to get to the actual dam...it was not particularly pretty...we just wanted to see it....

A train trestle ran above the trail.  Bob thought it would be great fun and wished a train would come, but I thought it was scary to have a train above our heads...

We enjoyed photographing the beauty in Cache County.  Who can tell me what kind of crop this is?  (Is it canola oil plants, has someone said that before??)  It is a puzzle, but a lot of farmers around here grow it....
