Mandy & Ross won a trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, so Grandma (me) tended the Grand Little Boys...
alone--since Bob was working nights....
Getting them to bed was an issue...since I won't take them out in the -20 to drive them to sleep.
One night I used my very firm voice and said to Dawson: "You keep your head down and go to sleep!" Like a little snake--his head staying down--he wiggled and slid off his bed onto the floor, with a big smile on his face. Still using my firm voice, I said, "You jump on that bed now!"
Up he popped to his feet on the bed--with the greatest smile and laugh ever---and jumped, jumped, jumped on the bed! I couldn't help but laugh--what a clever little boy! Playing little jokes on his grandma! Grandma has learned to be careful with her verbage--because little boys take it literally! Hudson is a big boy, and would go into his room and put himself to sleep.
Grandma bought Hudson Skylander Giants to entertain him while she tended. Later we went to Hastings and got one more figure. Bob was complaining that we bought more, and Hudson piped in, "Grandma, you just need to learn to say, "No."" We all thought that was SO funny, and we kept throwing it up to him, until finally the next day, he modified it, "Well, sometimes you can say "no" but sometimes you should say, "yes."
We had fun, but it was tiring!
